100 Years of Princeton Fencing

By Rob Dinerman
Edited by Greg Bayer '94 and Kathryn Taylor `74
176 pages, color, 10x13 inches

In February 1878 the editors of the Daily Princetonian advocated that the college's Gymnasium remain open for two extra hours, during which fencing and boxing could be taught " in order to smooth over the ragged edges of these long and tedious evenings."

This incredibly documented history captures the sport's formation and the full 100 years of varsity fencing, beginning with the first exhibition bout in 1924. Coaches, matches, champions and rivals are detailed with never before seen photos and interviews.
